Jones Barbee was born 23 May 1812 in Orange County, North Carolina, and died 7 July 1889 in Erath County, Texas. He was a son of Francis Barbee and the former Elizabeth Neville. On 25 October 1831, he married (1) Frances Lloyd in Orange County, North Carolina. After her death, he married (2) Nancy Louise (Turnbow) Gilbreath in Erath County, Texas, in March of 1870. The original portrait of Jones Barbee is in possession of a great-great-great-grandson, James Pylant. |
