By 1902, the strongest denominations in Missouri were the Roman Catholic; Regular Baptist, South; Disciples of Christ, Methodist Episcopal, South; Methodist Episcopal, South; Methodist Episcopal; German Evangelical Synod; Cumberland Presbyterian; Lutheran Synod, Conference; Regular Baptist, Colored; Presbyterian, North; African Methodist; and Presbyterian, South. In 1899 there were 7,236 Evangelical Sunday-schools, with 70,013 officers and teachers, and 613,106 scholars.
