This good brother was born in Alabama, May 21, 1824. His parents died when he was a child. He grew up in Butler county. In 1869 he joined the Mt. Zion Baptist church, Butler county; was ordained to the deaconship in 1870. He came to Texas in 1873 and settled in the southern part of Falls county, two miles west of the Brazos river. He still lives on the little home where he first settled. He was in the organization of Pleasant Grove church in 1878, and has ever since been an active deacon in the church. He has always been true to his church and to Baptist faith.
