John Everett Durham obituary

Mineral Wells Index, 22 August 1916.

SMALL CHILD IS KILLED BY AUTOMOBILE TUESDAY.

A regrettable accident occurred about 7 o’clock yesterday evening on South College street. A car driven by Will Lattner in which some of his friends were riding, struck the little three year old boy of Mrs. I.B. Durham in front of her home. A fender on the car struck the child inflicting injuries from which he died within thirty minutes.

Such accidents cast a gloom over a community and bring grief to the hearts of all parties connected with the incident.

Little John Everett Durham would have been three years old next January. The body was prepared for burial by Beetham & Son and the funeral services were held at the home, 1216 South College street, at 4 o’clock by Rev. Layton Maddox, who returned this morning from Dallas. After the services interment was made in Elmwood Cemetery.

The Index joins the host of friends of the family in extending sympathy in their great bereavement.
