This handy, quick-reference by research expert Brian Mitchell, who’s also written Irish guides for the Genealogy at a Glance series, covers the basics of Scots-Irish research. The Scots-Irish, commonly called “Scotch Irish,” descended from 17th-century Scottish settlers in Ireland. Mitchell’s pointers cover the historical background of the Scots-Irish (17th-century Ulster planters and 18th-century emigrants), passenger lists, places of origin, family names, source records (such as church registers, census substitutes, and estates), and repositories, with each category giving recommended reading.
