WILLIAM BATES was born in Stark County, Ohio, July 22, 1825; came to Perrysburg, Wood County, in 1832, and then came to Lucas County in 1846. He married Miss Hannah Darling, June 4, 1848. She died in 1863, leaving one child, Dora. He married, for his second wife, Mrs. Jennie Simmons, October 1, 1864. Their children are, Clara M. and Ida May. Wagonmaker by trade. Politics, Republican. Maumee, Ohio.
