I, Jesse CORNWELL of Haywood Co. in consideration of the sum of $210 have sold unto John HIDE of the Co. aforesaid two tracts of land in said Co. and on the N fork of Oconey Lufty river the first containing 150 acres originally Granted to Andrew WELCH by a State patent 11 Dec. 1804 beginning on a white oak on a hill on the E side of the N fork runs thence N 150 poles to a stake thence W 160 poles to a stake thence S 150 poles to a stake thence E to the beginning the other tract Joining the other 150 acres below being the upper part of a 200 acre survey Granted to John FERGUS by a State patent which upper part so sold. Indenture, 26 Jun. 1810, between John WELCH of the Co. of Haywood and David NELSON of the Co. aforesaid in consideration of the sum of $280 have conveyed unto the said David NELSON a parcel of land in our Co. of Haywood Joining ALMAN’s line below the orchard and beginning on a hickory a corner of Nathaniel ALMAN’s and thence running S 180 poles to a stake thence E 56 poles to a stake thence N 168 poles to a birch…containing 106 acres and 115 poles the aforesaid agreeable to a plat made by Col. Indenture, 3 Mar. 1810, between George LOVIL and John WILKINS both of Co. of Haywood in consideration of the sum of 100 pounds unto him the said LOVIL for which sum the s<SMALL><SUP>d</SUP></SMALL> LOVIL doth convey unto him the said John WILKINS a parcel of land in the Co. on both sides of the rush fork of CRABTREE Creek of Pigeon river lying above Samuel ROGERS’ land on said fork….Including the place where the said LOVIL formerly lived and containing 140 acres being part of a large tract of land originally granted to David ALLISON and purchased at Sheriff’s sale by John STROTHER. <I>Jorge LOVEL</I> {Seal}. Indenture, 24 Jun. 1809, between Isaac <I>ROBISON</I> senr. of the Co. of Haywood and Isaac <I>ROBINSON</I> Jun<SMALL><SUP>r.</SUP></SMALL> in consideration of the sum of $50 bath conveyed unto Isaac ROBINSON Junr. a certain Tract containing 100 acres in the Co. of Haywood on Beaverdam Creek and is founded as follows: Beginning on a small hickory near John ROBINSON’s fence and a corner of his Survey and runs N 88 poles to a hickory then E 160 poles crossing the Creek to a stake then S 131 poles to a stake corner to John ROBINSON’s and with his line N 75 degrees W to the beginning the same being part of a tract of land conveyed to the [said] Isaac ROBINSON Sen<SMALL><SUP>r.</SUP></SMALL> by John STROTHER by deed 23 Mar. 1805. Indenture, 24 Jun. 1809, between Isaac ROBINSON of the Co. of Haywood and John ROBINSON of the Co. aforesaid in consideration of the sum of $55 doth grant unto the said John ROBINSON a certain tract of land containing 154 acres in the Co. aforesaid on both sides of the Beaverdam Creek of Pigeon River and is bounded as follows. Beginning on a small post oak on the side of a mountain and corner to Aaron ROBINSON and runs N 85 degrees W 164 poles crossing the Creek to a Spanish oak on the line of the AVERY Survey. Indenture, 22 Dec. 1806, between Daniel McDOWELL of the Co. of Buncombe and Obidiah BRADSHAW a parcel of land in the Co. aforesaid on the W side of Pigeon River on McDOWELL’s branch Joining land of James McDOWELL. Beginning on a white oak on the top of a hill running with James McDOWELL’s line N 100 pole[s] to a Sourwood on the point of a hill thence crossing McDOWELL’s branch 160 poles to a white oak on the side of a hill thence S crossing the said branch to a little dogwood 100 poles thence to the beginning containing 100 acres. Indenture, 6 Oct. 1810, betwixed Daniel EATON of the Co. of Haywood and Jesse EATON of the Co. of Haywood in consideration of the sum of $60 doth convey unto the above named Jesse EATON all of that tract of land whereon the said Daniel EATON now lives. Beginning on the branch dividing betwext the said Jesse EATON and the land of Daniel EATON beginning Wm ALEXANDER’s line across said branch thence up said branch to a marked white oak thence S until it strikes the top of the ridge thence along said ridge westward by line til it intersects the N and S line of said tract of land conveyed from John CRAIGG to Isaac EATON. Indenture, 26 Jun. 1810, between William ALEXANDER Esq high Sheriff of the Co. of Haywood and Robert LOVE of the Co. aforesaid whereas by virtue of an Execution issuing from the Superior Court of Buncombe Co. against Joseph DOBSON for the sum of 52 pounds seven shillings & four Pence which said sum was recovered by Robert LOVE…two parcels of land in the said Co. of Hay-wood and Bounded as follows (viz) One tract of 400 acres on the W side of Pigeon river Joining above Robert REED’s Tract formerly now George CATHEY’s and including the PENLAND old Place. Indenture, 24 Oct. 1810, between William Mitchel DAVIDSON of Haywood Co. & and William DAVIDSON of the Co. of Buncombe in consideration of the sum of $1200 the said William Mitchel DAVIDSON a parcel of land in the Co. of Haywood on Jonathan’s Creek which intersects big Pigeon river on the W side viz: Beginning on a Crooked white oak on the Indian Path in the bottom then [illegible] due S 60 poles to two small hickorys on the point of a ridge then running due W crossing the Indian old Path & Jonathan’s Creek by entered land 50 poles to a stake then N by John G. BLUNT’s land 275 poles to a stake then runs E by entered land 210 poles crossing Jonathan’s Creek to a stake then S by John G. BLOUNT’s land 215 poles to a stake thence running due W by entered land 160 poles to the place of beginning entered 10 May 1794. Another tract beginning on the aforesaid corner stooping white oak running on said line 60 poles to the other corner then W crossing the creek 50 poles to W corner thence 30 poles to a stake thence 210 poles crossing the Creek to a stake thence N 90 poles to the aforesaid corner thence with DAVIDSON’s line W 160 poles. Indenture, 18 May 1811, between Jacob EVANS of the Co. of Haywood and John FULBRIGHT of the Co. aforesaid in consideration of the sum of $300 the said Jacob EVANS doth convey a parcel of land in the Co. aforesaid…containing 50 acres…the said EVANS is impowered by virtue of deed by George THOMPSON bearing date 12 May 1806 and said George THOMPSON a deed of the high Sheriff of Buncombe Co. Samuel WILLIAMS which said tract of land a part of a large tract Originally Granted by the State of NC to David ALLISON and sold by James HUGHEY high Sheriff to John STROTHER and said tract of 50 acres conveyed from said John STROTHER to Corbin THOMPSON & then sold by said Samuel WILLIAMS to satisfy a[n] Execution for 58 pounds and costs therein to George THOMPSON which said deed bearing date 20 Jan. 1806. Indenture, 5 Jan. 1811, betwixed Mary SMITH and Joshua KINWORTHY both of the Co. of Haywood in consideration of the sum of $130 the said Mary SMITH doth convey unto the said Joshua KINWORTHY a parcel of land in the Co. aforesaid on the W side of Pigeon river the same part of a large tract of land Originally Granted by the State by John STROTHER Conveyed from him to William HAMBY from William HAMBY to Mary SMITH being on a small creek than runs S 29 poles to the creek then up said small creek to the head thence N 46 degrees W 84 poles to John MASSEY’s line then with his line to Elihu CHAMBERS’ corner hickory which is the beginning corner the same being 60 acres. Indenture, 14 Nov. 1809, between Waighstill AVERY of Burk Co. and Robert LOVE of the Co. of Haywood and Elijah DEAVER and Richard DEAVER of the said Co. of Haywood. Witnesseth that whereas the said Waight AVERY and Robert LOVE obtained a grant from the state of N.C. for 300 acres of land on the W side of Pigeon River. Beginning at a large white oak on the bank of the river Called George DAVIDSON’s corner and runs W 220 poles to a stake on a ridge then S 330 poles to a stake thence E 100 poles to a stake on the bank of the river thence down the river with its different windings to the place of beginning and whereas an agreement of the said LOVE and AVERY of one part and Joseph DOBSON of the other part the said LOVE and AVERY did enter into bond with condition to be void on making a deed of release and Quit claim for the land the said 300 acres contained in the said Grant. Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said Robert LOVE and Waightstill AVERY in complyance with the said bond and in consideration thereof have released and Quit Claimed and by these presents by consent and request of the said Joseph DOBSON do release and forever Quit Claim to the said Elijah DEAVER & Richard DEAVER all the land continued in the lines of their said Grant bearing date 19 Dec. 1801 Except thereof as the said Robert LOVE and Waightstill AVERY have by deed released & Quit Claimed to Thomas BIRD. Indenture, 7 Oct. 1809, between John DAVIDSON of the Co. of Franklin in the State of Tenn. and Robert LOVE of the Co. of Haywood in the State of N. C., in consideration of the sum of $300 paid by the said Robert LOVE, the said John DAVIDSON doth grant a certain tract of land in the Co. of Haywood on Richland Creek including a meadow. Beginning at a hickory about five poles W of a branch and S 135 poles crossing a large branch and the main Creek to a forked walnut thence N 135 poles to a stake thence E 254 poles crossing the Creek to the beginning 200 acres (excepting thereof 55 acres and 100 poles which has been previously conveyed to John WELCH) originally granted to the said John DAVIDSON & the said Robert LOVE by the State of NC by Patent dated 30 Aug. 1802. Indenture, 16 Jun. 1809, between Abraham WIGGINS of the Co. of Haywood and Thomas LOVE in Trust for the use and benefit of Dorcas DILLARD (wife of Thomas DILLARD) and the children of the said Thomas DILLARD & Dorcas all of the Co. aforesaid in consideration of the sum of $600 paid by the said Thomas LOVE the said Abraham WIGGINS doth hereby convey unto the said Thomas LOVE for the use, behoof and benefit of the wife and children of the said Thomas DILLARD and to the assigns of the said Thomas LOVE forever all that tract of land in the Co. aforesaid and on both sides of the Ocona Lufty river and is bounded as follows: Beginning at a forked white oak HOLLAND’s corner on the W side of the river and runs due W 280 poles to a chestnut tree on the Indian Boundary line thence with the said Indian Boundary line S 52 1/2 degrees E to a point on the said Indian Boundary line from which a line runs a due N Course shall strike a stake 80 poles E of the Beginning Corner thence from said point 178 poles N to a stake on the E side of the river and 80 poles due E of the Beginning corner thence W 80 poles to the Beginning corner Containing 174 acres be the same more or less. C. and John DAVIDSON of the Co. of Franklin in the State of Tenn. of the one part & Hugh DAVIDSON of the Co. of Haywood in the first named state. Indenture, 17 Oct. 1810, between Alexander McCLURE of the Co. of Haywood & Lebanon NIX of the Co. aforesaid in consideration of the sum of $114 hath sold unto Lebanon NIX all that tract or parcel of land Containing 100 acres including his improvements lying & being in our Co. of Haywood which patent was originally granted to Joseph DOBSON by a State patent No. 323 bearing date 1797 Situate on both sides of Pigeon river joining or near joining George SHULER below. Beginning at a post oak and pointers about 20 poles E of the river and runs E crossing a path and little creek 190 poles to a post oak and pine on a ridge thence N 220 poles to a stake thence W 190 poles to a stake thence S crossing the river to the beginning being originally granted by patent to John <I>McDOWEL</I> and Joseph McDOWEL bearing date 27 Nov. 1789 and No. 1256 s<SMALL><SUP>d</SUP></SMALL> tract of land was lying in the Co. of Burk when Granted afterwards in Buncombe & now in Haywood Co. and the s<SMALL><SUP>d</SUP></SMALL> Samuel H WILLIAMS Sheriff and aforesaid after due advertisement according to law did cause the s<SMALL><SUP>d</SUP></SMALL> parcel of land to be put up to public sale to the highest bidder at Asheville on 25 Jan. 1806 at which time the aforesaid tract of land containing 370 acres was bid off by John CARSON Guardian of s<SMALL><SUP>d</SUP></SMALL> John McDOWEL. Beginning at a white oak stump corner to ROSSes land and runs with his line N 40 poles to a white oak then W 60 poles to a small red oak on the side of <I>an</I> hill then S 25 W 160 poles to a stake a line of a tract of land sold by M. Know ye that for and in consideration of the sum of 50 Shillings for every 100 acres hereby granted paid unto our treasury by Daniel McDOWELL have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said Daniel McDOWELL, a tract of land containing 200 acres lying and being in the Co. of Haywood on Jonathan’s Creek near the head of Springbranch including the improvements where Hesikiah ALLISON now lives.
